A rare single cask bottling from Islay’s farm distillery Kilchoman, released exclusively for Belgian importer The Nectar, showcasing the distillery’s experimental approach to cask finishing.

Distilled in 2011, this expression was initially matured for approximately seven years in a fresh ex-bourbon barrel before undergoing a finishing period in a red wine cask from Portugal’s Douro Valley, imparting additional layers of fruit and spice to Kilchoman’s signature peated spirit.

Bottled at natural cask strength and limited to just 246 bottles, this single cask release highlights the individuality of Kilchoman’s small-batch production, with each bottling selected for its unique character.

Red wine cask finishes are relatively uncommon within Kilchoman’s portfolio, offering a distinctive balance of maritime peat smoke, brine and rich red fruit sweetness, with added depth from the wine cask influence.
