To celebrate the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, Diageo have collaborated with HBO to release a limited edition collection of eight single malt Scotch whiskies inspired by each of the Houses of Westeros and the Night's Watch.This 9-year-old Islay single malt from Lagavulin is the standard bearer for House Lannister, one of the richest and oldest dynasties in the Seven Kingdoms. The Lannister's rise to the Iron Throne took years of meticulous calculation and tenacity, much like Lagavulin's rise to legendary status, which has been over 200 years in the making.Matured exclusively in 100% first-fill ex-bourbon casks, this expression has an explosion of sweet smoke on the nose, with a touch more zesty maritime brine than the standard Lagavulin expressions. The palate brings a sweet, smoky caramelised banana note, with toasted marshmallow and vanilla, before a dry menthol and salted caramel finish.
