Description

Macallan Folio 1 - Folio 6 70cl x 6

Macallan Folio 1 70cl. The Macallan Folio 1 is a limited edition that was released exclusively at the Macallan Distillery in 2015. This is one of 2000 bottles.
Folio 1 is the first release in a 24 part series that celebrates and revisits The Macallan's original print, press and film advertising campaign telling the story of The Macallan from a remote farmstead on the River Spey to a whisky that is enjoyed around the world.

Macallan Folio 2 70cl. One of only 2,000 bottles. Part 2 of a yet to be fully released 24 part series that celebrates the first Macallan advertising campaign. From the first brief from the then Macallan Chairman Peter Shiach in the late 1970s, creative advertising duo David Holmes and Nick Salaman produced 250 individual pieces of advertising for The Macallan spanning three decades. Moving from the small placement beside The Times crossword in 1980 (that features in the first Folio release) to bigger, more creative placements over time, the campaign had an intelligent wit and distinct tone of voice that became almost infectious. Resonating with readers, suppliers and friends, stories were shared in response to the campaign that would soon be inspiration for future ads.
Founded in 1824, The Macallan is one of the world’s most admired and awarded single malt whiskies. The reputation of The Macallan is based on a product of outstanding quality and distinctive character, founded upon a set of guiding principles, the Six Pillars. An obsession with quality has been the hallmark of The Macallan since its founding by Alexander Reidin 1824.
The front image is a water-colour painted by artist Sara Midda.

Macallan Folio 3 70cl. This expression was released in 2018, it is the 3rd release in the Archival Series, presented in the familiar tin book style package, which includes a hardback book.
The illustration on the front of the packaging is from Punch magazine from a Victorian edition.

The Macallan Folio 4 70cl. The Folio series has gained something of a cult following, particularly amongst those old enough to remember the original advertisements they pay tribute to. No.4 depicts the musical notation for a Strathspey composed by James Scott Skinner, apparently inspired by a glass of his favourite Macallan.

The Macallan Folio 5 is the fifth release of The Archival Series which commemorates Macallan’s advertising campaigns from the 1970s, 80s and 90s. The 5th release remembers a campaign focusing on the tale of a “Luggy Bonnet” with the phrase “Keep this knot firmly tied”. The image on the tin and bottle of Folio 5 is of the “Luggy Bonnet”. It is said the bonnet which was responsible for the Sportsman in the ad “disastrously” missing out on a dram of Macallan because of the flaps covering his ears!

Macallan Folio 6 70cl. The sixth release from The Macallan Archival Series, an iconic series created to commemorate their legendary advertising campaigns of the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's.
This sixth release reminds us of one of the most memorable whisky adverts in history - the chairman of Macallan edited to look like a Scotsman dancing the Highland fling over a pen and brush, the symbols of the advertising team of Holmes and Salaman.
